2025 AFCON: Ghana to begin qualifying campaign in a clash against Angola

The Black Stars of Ghana will begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign in September.

The first match the Black Stars will play will be an encounter against Angola.

The actual date for that important game in September will be communicated by CAF in the coming weeks.

The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament was held in South Africa on Thursday, July 4.

At the end of the draw, Ghana was pitted in Group F alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger.

Speaking on the draw, Ghana head coach Otto Addo has admitted that the Black Stars must put in a lot of work to have the chance of securing qualification.

He said he looks forward to the encounter against Sudan, now coached by Ghanaian tactician James Kwesi Appiah.

"There is no small team in Africa at the moment. You saw at the last AFCON that very, very strong and known teams had problems with the so-called unknown teams so it’s going to be tough but I think we have the quality to beat all of them. But it’s going to be close, it’s going to be tough, there are no easy games," Coach Otto Addo added.
