Ghana coach, Otto Addo, expressed his anticipation for the upcoming clash against Sudan, led by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars are set to face Sudan along with Niger and Angola in Group F.

Having previously served as a scout under Appiah during the 2024 World Cup in Brazil, Addo acknowledged Appiah's coaching prowess but emphasized his confidence in Ghana's ability to secure three points.

"We have Sudan who are really, really doing well at the moment with Kwesi Appiah which I know personally," he told the Ghana FA website.

"He is a very good coach. They are not a known squad but like I said, they are doing really, really good at the moment in the World Cup qualification games, very, very tough to beat.

"It’s going to be a really big challenge to beat them and for this, we have to be at 100% best. But I am excited to play against them, and like I said it’s going to be tough.

"It’s not easy but we have a strong team and we surely can beat them, this is for sure," he added.

Appiah, credited for guiding Ghana to the 2019 AFCON, now directs Sudan's football strategy. His current focus lies in replicating Sudan's strong World Cup qualifying performance, where they currently top Group B ahead of strong contenders like Senegal and DR Congo.

Sudan, eyeing their 10th AFCON appearance, seeks to overcome recent challenges in the tournament, having last participated in 2021 and exited in the Group Stage.

Meanwhile, Ghana, aspiring for their fifth AFCON title, under Otto Addo's leadership, aims to revive past glories dating back to their last triumph in 1982.
