2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: CAF ban will force us to do things right - Karim Zito

Dreams FC Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito believes the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) ban on Ghana’s Baba Yara Stadium could be beneficial for the Ghana.

He believes the ban will force authorities to do things right going forward.

CAF withdrew approval for the stadium due to "persistent issues," which means Ghana will likely play their matchday 3 and 4 fixtures of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers away from home.

The Ghana FA has been instructed to select an alternative venue outside Ghana for next month’s matches.

Coach Zito, who also manages the national U19 team, thinks the current pitches in Ghana are hindering the Black Stars' performance.

“When you go into the coaching aspect and consider the factors affecting performance, the field plays a part," he said as Joy Sports quoted.

“Our players are used to quality pitches outside, so they feel uncomfortable when they come home to play, as they are afraid of getting injured. If you look at the goal we conceded against Angola, the intention was from Abdul Mumin was right, but the pitch caused him to miskick.

“For these reasons, I’m okay with the CAF ban, because it will force us to do the right thing."
