2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Comoros vs Ghana preview

Published on: 21 November 2023

The Black Stars of Ghana will face a daunting task on Tuesday, November 21, when the national team takes on Comoros.

Ghana is coming up against Comoros in the second Round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In the first game of the qualifiers, the Black Stars of Ghana cruised past the Barea of Madagascar in a 1-0 win.

This is a preview of the Comoros vs Ghana game tomorrow.

Form:

The hosts, Comoros, go into the game on Tuesday on the back of back-to-back wins against Cape Verde and the Central African Republic.

The game against CAR last week was perhaps the best performance of Comoros in a while.

In that game, Comoros conceded first but managed to complete a 4-2 comeback win to bag three crucial points to kick off the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The last five games of Comoros, however, have not been that impressive. The national team before winning the last two games had drawn one and lost the other two.

For Ghana, the Black Stars had to labour last Friday in the first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In the game against Madagascar played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a late equaliser from Inaki Williams won the game for the Black Stars to bring joy to the fans.

Before that hard-fought victory, Ghana had lost two consecutive games in the October international break.

From the last five games played by Ghana, the Black Stars have three wins and two defeats.

Head-to-head:

Comoros and Ghana have faced each other three times in the history of football. The first game between the two national teams ended in a goalless draw in 2015.

That same year, Ghana hosted and defeated Comoros 2-0 in the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The recent meeting between the two countries was at the  2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

In a final Group C match, Comoros stunned Ghana as the Black Stars lost 3-2 at the end of the 90 minutes.

Predicted scoreline:

Comoros go into Tuesday’s game feeling very confident, especially after the 4-2 win over the Central African Republic just a few days ago.

That notwithstanding, Ghana will not come easy. If Coach Chris Hughton gets his starting lineup and tactics right, the Black Stars could perhaps steal a win away from home.

Comoros 1-2 Ghana.

Match details:

The match between Comoros and Ghana comes off on Tuesday, November 21.

The game will kick off at 16:00gmt at the Moroni Stadium.
