The head coach of the Eagles of Mali, Eric Sekou Chelle has been fired by the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT).
This follows the recent defeat to the Black Stars of Ghana in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In that game played in Bamako, Ghana came from behind to secure a 2-1 win with goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew doing the trick for the Black Stars.
Subsequently, Mali failed to beat Madagascar in a game the Eagles urgently needed a win.
After assessing the two results, the Malian Football Federation has decided to end the collaboration with coach Erick Sekou Chelle.
A letter confirming the decision and wishing the coach well was issued on Thursday, June 13.
The letter was signed by Moussa Silvain Diakité, the 1st Vice President of FEMAFOOT.
