2026 FIFA World Cup: Veteran Denis Odoi included in Chris Hughton’s Black Stars squad for first round of qualifiers

Experienced Ghana international, Denis Odoi has been named by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton in his squad for the first round of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The veteran has been missing in action in the national team for a while due to an injury and a lack of playing time at his club, Club Brugge.

Thankfully, those two setbacks have been addressed in recent games in Belgium.

The 35-year-old featured for Club Brugge and scored in the team’s 6-0 thumping of Beerschot.

He also played in the team’s last game against Royal Union SG. His performance in the two games has impressed Ghana coach Chris Hughton, leading to his return to the Black Stars for the upcoming games against Madagascar and Comoros.

The squad has three goalkeepers including Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Richard Ofori.

Baba Rahman misses out on the squad while Kasim Nuhu Adams also makes a return to the squad.

Daniel Amartey, Mohammed Kudus, and the Ayew brothers are all in the squad.

The game between Ghana and Madagascar is scheduled to be played on November 17.

Meanwhile, the game between Comoros and Ghana will be played on November 21.
