2026 World Cup qualifiers: Andre Ayew and Majeed Ashimeru to return to Black Stars squad for Madagascar, Comoros games

Andre Ayew is set to return to the Black Stars setup for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

Andre, who has been clubless after leaving Nottingham Forest in July was left out of Black Stars team for the international friendly games against Mexico and the USA last month.

The Black Stars however lost both games by conceding six goals without scoring a goal in the games.

However, the 33-year-old who is the most capped player for Ghana with 115 appearances, scoring 24 goals is set to be named in Black Stars' squad for the games scheduled later this month.

Meanwhile, Almeria midfielder Iddrisu Baba and Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru will be given the nod to return to the team.

Baba was given a 20-minute runout during the weekend his club lost 1-0 to Alaves in La Liga. Ashimeru returned to action in October after a three-month injury layoff.

However, Thomas Partey is expected to miss the games due to a muscle injury which will keep him out until December.

Chris Hughton’s side will start the qualifying campaign against Madagascar on November 17 at the Baba Yara Stadium before travelling to Comoros four days later.

The squad list for the game is expected to be released this week.

Having lost in the friendly games, Chris Hughton and his charges will hope to return to winning ways.
