2026 World Cup qualifiers: Clubless Andre Ayew returns to BlackStars squad for Madagascar, Comoros games

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has returned to the Black Stars squad for the 2926 World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of the season after a half season loan spell.

It means Andre Ayew has not featured in a competitive club game since coming off the bench against Crystal Palace in May to play two minutes.

He was not included in the squad that lost to the United States of America and Mexico in the October international break friendlies.

Head coach Chris Hughton announced the squad on Thursday afternoon amid the uncertainty over his future.

The four-time African champions will host Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the first Group I game of the Mexico, Canada, and ISA tournament to be hosted in 2026.

Four days later, Ghana will play as guests to Comoros in the second group match as they hope to get some good results after the disappointing defeats last month.
