Mali faces a setback as midfielder Yves Bissouma will be sidelined for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana due to a knee injury.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder sustained the during their recent match against Burnley, where they secured a 2-1 victory at the Tottenham Stadium on Saturday.

The injury will keep the midfielder out of the rest of the season. Confirming the news, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou stated that Bissouma will miss the remaining two matches of the season.

"Bissouma picked up a knee injury in the last game and he's out for the season," said Postecoglou.

This injury likely rules out the 27-year-old former Brighton midfielder from Mali's squad for the upcoming crucial fixture against Ghana, scheduled to take place at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6 for Matchday three of the Mundial qualifiers.

Ghana, currently sitting fourth in Group I with three points, will aim to bounce back to keep their qualification hopes alive after a mixed start to their campaign.

The Black Stars secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Madagascar before suffering a surprising defeat against Comoros.

Otto Addo, the head coach of the Ghanaian team, is expected to announce his squad for the upcoming fixtures.

Following the match against Mali, the Black Stars will host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10 for the Matchday four games.
