90min Exclusive: Christian Benteke Picks His Dream 5-a-Side Team & Fantasy Strike Partner

Published on: 05 March 2017

From Liverpool to the Belgian national team,Christian Benteke has played with his fair share of talented players throughout his career.

Speaking exclusivelyto 90min at Nike's inaugural Strike Night showpiece, the 26-year-old picked his dream 5-a-side team, compiled fromthe bestplayers he'sbeen fortunate enough toplay alongside, as well as revealing his fantasy striking partner.

Perhaps influenced by the presence of so many top quality forwards at the event to launch the new Hypervenom 3 boots (including Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Inter's Mauro Icardi and Man Utd's Marcus Rashford), the Crystal Palace front man eventually plumped for an aggressively attacking 5-a-side team that would scare the living daylights out of anyone else unlucky enough to share the astroturf.

"That's a tough one. That's tough," he said.

After some deliberation, and perhaps unsurprisingly, all but one of his chosen picks were his international compatriots - and all from the Premier League.

"So, okay me...[Eden] Hazard, [Philippe] Coutinho, [Kevin] de Bruyne."

When suggested that he might need a keeper to complete the lineup, he added: "Ok, so let's say [Simon] Mignolet."

While the inclusion of the supremely technical trio of Hazard, Coutinho and De Bruyne won't raise too many Carlo Ancelotti style eyebrows, Benteke's choice between the sticks might surprise a few.

The Liverpool keeper has suffered from heavy media criticism this season, but still apparently has at least one admirer in his national teammate. Thibaut Courtois may disagree about the selection, however.

Benteke,a known boyhood Arsenal fan, also revealed a Gunners legend as his'dream strike partner' from the world of football.

"Obviously, I would say Thierry Henry but he's retired," he explained, when asked who he would love to playalongside.

"Otherwise [Lionel] Messi."
