A lot is being done to improve Ghana Premier League – Eastern Regional Minister lauds GFA

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong has indicated that he is impressed with the work the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is doing to improve the domestic league.

According to him, although the league has challenges, it is good to see commitment from the football association to address them.

“I believe in the Ghana Premier League and I think a lot is being done to build the domestic league and I would like to thank the GFA for paying attention to domestic. There are challenges that confront but in the midst of the enormous challenges, we have always committed resources to the League, which is commendable,” Seth Kwame Acheampong said on Tuesday.

The Eastern Regional Minister was speaking as the special guest of honour at the launch of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season in Koforidua, Eastern Region.

Speaking at the event, Kurt Okraku announced a 60% increment on the prize money for the winner of next season’s Ghana Premier League title.

The next league champion will receive GHS500,000 as against the winner of last season who pocketed GHS300,000.

“To increase the competitiveness of the League, the Ghana Football Association will reward from the 1st to the 10th place in the 23/24 betPawa Premier League,” GFA President Kurt Okraku explained.
