£1 Every Second! The Mind Boggles at the Money Carlos Tevez Stands to Make in China

Published on: 19 December 2016

Ex-Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus forward Carlos Tevez stands to become the highest paid player in the world when his anticipated move from Boca Juniors to Shanghai Shenhua in China is formally completed.

Tevez is widely expected to earn the truly staggering sum of around £32m peryear in the incredibly wealthy Chinese Super League. That equates to more than £600,000 every week and even as much as £1 for every single second.

Carlos Tevez's earnings at Shanghai Shenhua:

 £88k a day
 £3.6k a hour

It completely trumps the recent stories that Oscar stands to become one of the world's best paid stars when his proposed transfer from Chelsea to Shanghai SIPG goes through.

Tevez, now 32 years of age, was expected to see out his career with Boca after turning his back on European football to rejoin his boyhood club in 2015.

However, it appears that the lure of going to China has been too much to ignore and he bid an emotional farewell to Boca fans in Buenos Aires at the weekend.

Tevez scored in the 4-1 win and left the field to a rapturous ovation when he was substituted late on. Fans in the stands begged him to stay and one even broke onto the pitch to hug the player.
