Aaron Ramsey Reveals Why He Chose Arsenal Over Man Utd When Leaving Boyhood Club at 17

Published on: 24 December 2016

Back in 2008, a young footballer by the name of Aaron Ramsey was hot property; at only 17, he was allset to leave his boyhood club Cardiff City, and had to choose between two Premier League giants, namely Manchester United and Arsenal.

Both clubs were willing to pay£5m for the Welshman's services, and it was basically down to Ramsey to choose his next destination.

Of course, as we all know, Ramsey chose Arsenal;but it's only now, eight years later, that he has revealed the reason why...

As reported by The Sun,the reason Ramseychose the Gunners ahead of the Red Devils is because Arsene Wenger made him feel wanted - this despite the fact his dad Kevin is a United fan!

Recalling the time he had to make one of the biggest decisions of his young life, Ramsey had the following to say:

I went up there to see the facilities and I went to see Arsene Wenger. He did a lot to try and get me to this club. As a 17-year-old, flying out on a private jet to his hotel was surreal but I think I made the right decision.

I just felt a bit more wanted by Arsenal and by the boss.

At the time, the player affectionately known as 'Rambo' wasso close to joining United, the club even announced it on their website.

Whoops.

Following two successive defeats,Arsenal will look to kick-start their Premier League challenge against West Brom on Boxing Day, while United will look to maintain their good recent form when they play Sunderland.
