'Absolute Rubbish' - Carlo Ancelotti Slams Rumours Linking Arturo Vidal With Chelsea

Published on: 03 January 2017

Bayern Munich head coach Carlo Ancelotti has completely rubbished talk of midfield engine Arturo Vidal leaving Bavaria and joining Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Weak speculation surfaced earlier this week when Vidal apparently 'liked' a social media post that spoke of a reunion with Antonio Conte, with whom he worked under at Juventus.

But while addressing the media at a press conference to mark Bayern's first training session of the New Year, held at a mid-season camp in Qatar, Ancelotti had little time for the rumour.

Bad news @ChelseaFC fans. Carlo Ancelotti says Arturo Vidal to Stamford Bridge is "absolute rubbish"

"Absolute rubbish. Absolute nonsense," he labelled the gossip when the question arose.

Vidal was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before he chose Bayern in 2015 and has been highly influential during his 18 months at the German club so far.

He was even nominated for the 2016 Ballon d'Or after helping Chile to a second successive Copa America title during the summer, following on from a strong World Cup in 2014.

And with Vidal not heading for the exit, Ancelotti also revealed that there are no plans for Bayern to bring in any new faces this month either.

A lot of money was spent on the likes of former youth player Mats Hummels and Portuguese teenager Renato Sanches over the summer, while Bayern already sit top of the Bundesliga table after conceding only nine goals and suffering a single defeat in the first 16 games.
