Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Abdul Bashir lamented over missed chances on Wednesday afternoon after the team lost 1-0 to Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking to StarTimes after the game, the coach said although his team created a lot of chances they could not convert.

He said it’s unfortunate that in the end, Accra Lions scored to punish his side.

“We started so well. Even we were supposed to finish the game in the first half. We had some decent chances but we couldn’t take it. In the second half too we controlled the game but we couldn’t score. I don’t know why. We tried and tried and tried but they defended so well and their goalkeeper did very well.

"There are a lot of chances and we should have punished them. I don’t think they played better than us. Just that they took their chance and scored a goal, that’s the difference,” coach Abdul Bashir said.

In his interview, the Hearts of Oak assistant coach called on fans to continue supporting the team.

He assured that they will work hard in training to win the next game against Berekum Chelsea.
