The fire boys needed a 55minute equalizer from Zakaria Mumuni to take away a vital point in their game against Bechem United.

Aduana Stars are still in the hunt for a second Ghana Premier League title and have been touted one of the favorites to win the league.

Having dropped two points on Sunday, their coach Yussif Abubakar insists they picked a vital point that will keep them in the title race.

“It’s a vital point because when you look at the league table, yesterday WAFA won and there is the need for us to chase those ahead of us particularly WAFA,” he said.

“We told ourselves we must go for the three points. And, if we aimed for the three points and we didn’t get it we can get a point. I think it’s very good. I congratulate the boys for what they did,” he added.

In a game that the host dominated the first half, the visitors took control of the second half. A strategy coach Abubakar points out was planned.

“We even planned that, which is why we started with the 4-2-3-1 system to put a lot of midfielders so they will do a lot of running with us and we know very well in the second half they will run out of stamina completely and that was exactly what they did,”

“We did not intend to concede a goal. We had wanted to end the first half in a draw so that when we continue the second half we can come back strongly. Fortunately we were able to come back strongly.”

Aduana are now two points off WAFA who top the table. The 2009 champions have a formidable team capable of winning the league.
