Aduana FC 1-0 Kotoko: Referees are destroying our football with wrong calls - Ebenezer Sefa

Following a contentious penalty decision in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 match between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko on Sunday, Ghanaian coach Ebenezer Sefa has accused referees of damaging the game with their poor judgements.

In the 57th minute of the hotly contested game, referee Amadu Ibrahim controversially awarded a penalty against Asante Kotoko, with Aduana FC ultimately winning the game thanks to Sam Adams' penalty goal.

During the post-game analysis, Coach Sefah expressed his unhappiness with the referee's decision, claiming that the tackle from Mohammed Alhassan did not merit a penalty.

“The referees are destroying our game, how can you take such a penalty against Kotoko? It was never a penalty,” coach Ebenezer Sefah said on StarTimes.

Since they last winning the MTN FA Cup in 2017 title, Asante Kotoko have been ousted from the competition six times. The team must now win the Ghana Premier League in order to earn a spot in the 2023–2024 CAF Inter Club tournaments.
