Ghanaian winger Richard Mpong is on the verge of making a sensational move to Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers.

According to Ghanasportsonline.com, representatives of the Aduana Stars attacker are working things out for the 25-year-old to join the Timbers next season.

Mpong has one-year on his contract at Aduana Stars and unlikely to extend his stay with the Dormaa-based Club.

The former Kotoko star will be hoping to secure himself a deal to join his countrymen Harrison Afful, Gideon Baah, David Accam and Jonathan Mensah in the Major League Soccer.

A move to Portland Timbers could also see him realizing his dreams of earning an invite to the Black Stars team after receiving a call-up by former Ghana Coach Goran Stevanovic for a friendly game against Chile in 2012, a game he came off the bench to score for the Black Stars.
