Anderlecht player Frank Acheampong will start at left back position in the absence of Baba Rahman in Ghana's second Group D game against Mali on Saturday.
Acheampong played the role when Rahman was stretchered off in the 1-0 win over Uganda last Tuesday.
On Friday during the team's last training session, Acheampong was spotted playing the same role.
Acheampong has excelled in that role for his Belgian club in the domestic and Europa Leagues.
