Head Coach for the Squirrels of Benin, Michel Dussuyer has shared that the team is delighted with what they have managed to achieve at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament so far.

Despite failing to win any of their three matches in the group phase, Benin still managed to qualify into the round of 16 where they shockingly knockout out North African giant Morocco.

They are now expected to come up against the Teranga Lions of Senegal who is also tagged as one of the favorites to win this year’s tournament.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Michel Dussuyer described the team’s ability to make it to the last 8 of the tournament as a huge achievement that they can build on in the future.

“We are in a rising curve and we are going to make a great match to continue our adventure. The fact of being among the top eight teams in Africa is a great achievement for Benin who will play without pressure because all the pressure will be on Senegal”, the gaffer said.

Speaking on Benin's quarterfinal opponent, Michel Dussuyer shared, “They are a very good team with tactical and physical qualities. Senegal is here to play for the title. In this kind of matches, every detail counts and we must stay focused throughout the match because we are determined to go as far as possible”.

The match comes off later today at 16:00GMT.
