AFCON 2019: Black Stars back to training after reaching round 16

The Black Stars of Ghana has resumed training today after beating Guinea Bissau on Tuesday evening to secure qualification into the round of 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Needing all 3 points to be sure of progress into the knockout stage, the Black Stars did just that and posted an emphatic 2-0 victory over the Djurtus yesterday at the Suez Stadium.

After celebrating the triumph that saw them topping Group F ahead of the defending champions Cameroon, the team has today returned to training to prepare for their next opponent.

It is understood that the team is only engaging in light training to help the players recover to full fitness before they finally get into intensive training from Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Meanwhile, injured Thomas Agyepong is expected to join the team for training in the coming days as he continues his road to recovery.

Ghana will face Tunisia in the round of 16 at the Ismailia Stadium next week Monday, July 8, 2019.
