AFCON 2019: Dede Ayew passes late fitness test ahead Cameroon match

Published on: 29 June 2019

Footballghana.com can confirm that Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew has successfully passed a late fitness test and in line to feature for Ghana in their second Group F match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon later today.

The two Africa giants go into their second round of group matches in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) today as they look to secure a place in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Whiles Cameroon has a bigger chance as compared to Ghana, the tie will not be easy for any of the sides who have a long-standing rivalry between them.

Ahead of the crucial fixture, Ghana’s Captain Andre Ayew has been a doubt following an injury he picked up in the team’s 2-2 draw against the Squirrels of Benin in their opening match.

With just some few hours to the Cameroon match though, checks have revealed that the player has passed a late fitness test and is in line to feature for the West African side today if Head Coach James Kwesi Appiah decides to include him in the matchday squad.

The player who already has a goal to his name in this tournament, trained with the team yesterday and looked in fine shape to do battle for his country.

The match will be played this evening at the Ismailia Stadium. Kick off time is at 17:00GMT.
