AFCON 2019: Kwesi Appiah insists presence of Sports Minister in Egypt motivates Black Stars

Head Coach for the Ghana national team, James Kwesi Appiah has disclosed that the presence of the Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Isaac Asiamah in Egypt is a huge motivation for the Black Stars ahead of their round of 16 match with Tunisia.

The Sports minister who is said to have arrived in Egypt on June 25, 2019, when Ghana played her first game against Benin is still in town overseeing their affairs of the team and reporting back to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of Ghana’s round of 16 match against Tunisia, Coach Kwesi Appiah shared that he is surprised the minister is still in town whiles stressing that it will go a long way to serve as a motivation for his charges in the upcoming game.

“I was actually surprised when I heard the Minister was still here. It shows signs and support for the team. He has been here since our last game. Once the players see him, they see him as a father and it will be a booster for the players”, the gaffer said.

Ghana will lock horns with their Tunisian counterpart on Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Ismailia Stadium.
