AFCON 2019: Tunisia will not come easy – Kwesi Appiah

Published on: 08 July 2019

Ahead of Ghana’s round of 16 tie against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah has disclosed that the North African side will not come as an easy opponent.

Tunisia is the next obstacle in front of Ghana who is chasing a 5th AFCON title after failing to do so in the last 37 years. The last time the West African country conquered the continent was way back in 1982 when the tournament was hosted in Lybia.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference on Sunday, Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah stressed that he has total respect for Tunisia and he believes they will not be a pushover.

“I think tomorrow’s game is going to be very entertaining. Both teams I believe are very strong. I have always said that I have total respect for any team that came for this competition and personally I trust that Tunisia is not a bad team that you can just walk over them. We all need to work hard and make sure that we give the spectators a good game to watch”, the gaffer said.

The match between Ghana and Tunisia will kick off at exactly 19:00GMT at the Ismailia Stadium.
