Ghanaian youngster Samuel Owusu tasted his first start at the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament at the Suez Stadium on Tuesday evening when Ghana played against Guinea Bissau.

The Black Stars faced off with the Djurtus in a win or go encounter to end Group F with the two teams separated by just a point at the bottom of the table.

Following various injuries to wingers Christian Atsu and Thomas Agyepong, Coach Kwesi decided to throw in the young prodigy to hand him his maiden start in the continental tournament.

The 23-year old has been impressive throughout the limited minutes he has played for the national team and has shown promise of a player who has something good to offer.

The Čukarički star is starting on the right flank where he is expected to cut in and make the best of deliveries for strikers Jordan Ayew and Kwabena Owusu.

Below is the starting lineup against Guinea-Bissau:

Richard Ofori; Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman, John Boye, Joseph Aidoo, Mubarak Wakaso, Thomas Partey; Samuel Owusu, Kwabena Owusu, Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew.
