Afcon 2023 qualifiers: Ghana avoid Nigeria, Senegal and others

Ahead of the AFCON 2023 draw on April 19, Ghana's opponent in the recently completed Qatar 2022 World Cup playoffs, Nigeria and Morocco, as well as other top teams such as Senegal, Egypt, and Mali, will not face the Black Stars in the qualifiers for the tournament, which will be held in Cote D'Ivoire next year.

Ghana is one of the top 12 seeds and will not face Nigeria, African champions Senegal, and Morocco in the race to compete in next year's AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire.

Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Algeria, Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria are all in Pot 1.

According to CAF, the countries will then be drawn into 12 groups of four, with the team that finishes first and the team that finishes second in each of the groups, aside from the one with the home nation, making it through to the tournament.

Comoros Islands who whipped the Black Stars of Ghana at the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year is in Pot 3.
