“Life is very important for now. When the next AFCON was moved, I wasn’t really annoyed. At least it will help other injured players to recover for the tournament. Like our goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho who is recuperating. Nobody prays for such things as COVID-19. Sometimes one has to adapt which is the reason why the tournament was pushed forward,”

The Aspire Academy product who made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria during a 3-0 friendly win over Togo in 2017 was disappointed that he couldn’t make it to Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, but ambidextrously elated to be part of the squad at Egypt 2019 AFCON.

“I felt disappointed for me not to be at the last World Cup because I was injured. Notwithstanding, I was still happy for my friends who made it to the tournament like John Ogu and others,"

“At the AFCON, I was so happy to be there after missing the World Cup. I didn’t get much playing time due to the huge competition in the team. Against Algeria when I played, I wanted to give my best for the team. We just needed to hold on to the extra time to finish up the Algerians. After the defeat to Algeria, one of my teammates with Algeria, Slimani said thanked God for the last-minute free-kick which gave them the victory.” he concluded.
