AFCON qualifiers: South Africa call five more players ahead of Ghana clash

Published on: 24 March 2021

South Africa have beefed up their squad with five new players as they prepare for a crunch tie against Ghana.

Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki was forced to make the call due to COVID-19 restrictions placed on some of his players. Injuries were also a factor.

Strikers Lebo Maboe and Thabiso Kutumela have been brought on to replace injured Kermit Erasmus and Bradley Grobler.

Thabo Nodada, Mothobi Mvala and Vincent Pule have been added to the squad.

South Africa and Ghana are on nine points each and a win for either side could mean automatic qualification to the tournament which will be played next year.

The game will be played at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday.
