AFCON U23 Qualifiers: Black Meteors eyes qualification over Algeria in Kumasi

The Black Meteors of Ghana are set for a final showdown against Algeria in the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.

Ghana will have to beat the North Africa side at the Baba Yara Stadium this afternoon to secure qualification to the tournament to be staged in Morocco in June-July this year.

Ibrahim Tanko and his charges secured a 1-1 draw in Annaba last Friday and are poised to crush out the Algerians to progress.

The team returned to Ghana last Saturday and has been preparing at the match venue in Kumasi.

Having missed out on the 2020 Olympic Games in Beijing, the team is bent on returning to the Africa U23 championship, which will serve as a qualifying tournament for next year's game in Paris.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko led the team to the last tournament in Egypt, where Ghana finished fourth.

Meanwhile, Ghana is yet to qualify for the Olympics since 2004.
