Africa U-20 Championship: Coach Jimmy Cobblah unhappy with Caf's decision to play Senegal on Wednesday

Ghana U-20 coach Jimmy Cobblah has expressed his disappointment in CAF's decision to play Senegal just after 24 hours of playing Burkina Faso in the ongoing Africa U-20 Championship in Niger.

Satellites first match at the tournament against Burkina Faso was scheduled to be played on Sunday however, the match was postponed to Monday due to issues with the floodlight at the Stars De Maradi by the organisers.

The experience gaffer believes organizers of the competition have not been fair to his side by insisting they play on Wednesday, just 48 hours after their first game against Burkina Faso.

Responding to questions at the post-match press conference, the coach said, “The program for the competition was long given to us, and it required that we rest for 48 hours before another game, but with the new development, the team now have only 24 hours to rest and train for their second game against Senegal."

He added, “I don’t think it is right for anybody to ask the team to play after 24 hours in a competition of this sort, it is not done anywhere, and I believe the organisers will look into the fixtures, and get Ghana to play after 48 hours”.

Black Satellites defeated Burkina Faso courtesy Daniel Lomotey's brace in each half of the game to earn their first win in group B at the Stars De Maradi in Niger on Monday.

Ghana’s next game is against Senegal on Wednesday as they eye an early qualification to the semi-final of the competition as well as qualify to the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
