African curse hunts Pep Guardiola after Champions League semi-final exit

The African curse placed on Pep Guardiola has resurfaced again after Manchester City lost 6-5 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.

Dmitri Seluk, the agent of Yaya Toure, predicted an "African curse" will prevent the 51-year-old from ever winning the Champions League again.

Seluk and Guardiola endured a frosty relationship during the Ivorian's spells at Barcelona and City.

“God sees everything. As a man who acted with Yaya, the legend of the club, which under different pretexts did not give the opportunity to go on the field,” Dmitri Seluk said.

“He turned all Africa against himself, many African fans turned away from Manchester City. And I’m sure that many African shamans in the future will not allow Guardiola to win the Champions League.”

“It will be like an African curse on Guardiola. Time will tell if I am right or not.”

Touré moved to Premier League club Manchester City in 2010, where he scored a number of key goals, most notably the only goals in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final and final.

He also helped City earn their first league title in 44 years.
