After His Wembley Heroics Zlatan Ibrahimovic Now Boasts a Very Impressive Statistic

Published on: 01 March 2017

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has certainlymade his doubters look a bit silly after a stat emerged that proves just how good he's been in his debut season at Manchester United.

Ibra was the hero of the hour in Sunday's EFL Cup final against Southampton, helping his side steal the trophy in a 3-2 hard-fought victory, with the giant Swede bagging two goals.

It means he has now plundered 26 goals in 38 games, which is significant as pointed out by Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News in that he has already equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's goals tally for his final season at Old Trafford before leaving for Real Madrid.

Another flattering Ibrahimovic stat: he has as many goals as Ronaldo finished on in his last #mufc season. Ronaldo was 24-years-old.

To add a bit more context, Ibrahimovic is 35 years old and has never played in the Premier League before, one of the most competitive divisions in world football.

Ronaldo was 24 when he posted his total of 26 in the 2008/09 season - albeit he did miss the first month of the season after he underwent ankle surgery - but he was still widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

Not only that, but Zlatan still has around a third of the season left to play including Europa League and FA Cup games, which means it's highly likely he will break the 30-goal mark if his form is anything to go by.

It would be an astonishing achievement and a definite two fingers to everyone who said he wouldn't cut it.

There have been conflicting reports on the former PSG striker's Old Trafford future of late, with some reporting he wants to see if United will be playing Champions League football next season and some suggesting he is looking to play for another two years with the Red Devils.
