Agent Denies Reports of Borussia Dortmund Star Being Offered to Real Madrid

The agent of Borussia Dortmund star midfielder Julian Weigl has denied reports of the 21-year-old being offered to Real Madrid.

Spanish publication AS, on Monday, claimed that the German club was ready to let Weigl leave for Madrid for a huge fee, with Barcelona and Manchester City monitoring the situation as well.

Michael Decker, the player's agent, has refuted these claims though, and insists that Dortmund is the best place for his client to develop into a world-class attacker.

"The claim we were offering him to other clubs is simply wrong," Decker said toGoal.

"We consciously decided to renew his contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2021 even though there was a known interest from top clubs. We consider this the best decision for all parties.

"For a player with Julian Weigl's quality there is no need to offer him to anybody."

Weigl has already played over 60 games for Dortmund, having joined the club from 1860 Munich in 2015. He has become an important player in the side and is performing quite well under Thomas Tuchel.

It would be indeed strange if Dortmund really are keen on offloading him, given his talent and potential. Madrid are said to be quite intent on getting him to the Bernabeu, but AS claim that they won't make a move until 2018.

The player recently signed a new contract, supposedly extending his stay until 2021, but the folks at AS believe thatFlorentino Perez's good rapport with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke could swing things in Los Blancos favour.
