Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has given the indication that the lack of starting roles for Mohammed Kudus this season is for his own good.

Speaking to ESPN over the weekend after the game against SC Cambuur, the manager admitted that the Ghana star is a great player and deserves to be playing more.

He however noted that before the game against SC Cambuur, there was a discussion on what was best for Mohammed Kudus for his own good in terms of staying fit.

“But before the game we talked about getting guys like Mo fit only when they play. This substitution was therefore mainly a decision for Mo,” Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder shared.

He added, “And of course we take into account how much Brian plays, also in the knowledge that he didn't play that much last season. He is a real striker, important as a point of contact and works hard: then you also want to keep him fresh. We try to do it this way.”

Over the weekend, Mohammed Kudus climbed off the bench at halftime to replace compatriot Brian Brobbey.

The attacker put up a good performance and scored to help Ajax to secure a 4-0 win.
