Austria international David Alaba has signed a new contract to stay with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2018, the club have confirmed.

The two-time Bundesliga title winner joined the club as a trainee in 2008 and last season was part of the successful Treble-winning campaign.

The table-topping Bavarians revealed on Monday that the 21-year-old full-back, who had 18 months of his current deal still to run, had agreed a new three-year contract.

"I've been at Bayern since 2008," said Alaba. "It's long since become my club and I'm happy that everything is now set in stone and I'll be playing here until at least 2018."

"David came to Bayern at 16 and has developed excellently since then," said Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"Today he belongs to the best and most successful full-backs in Europe and we are very pleased to be able to count on his performances in the future."

Alaba, who made his Bayern debut in 2010, has made 23 appearances for club and country this season, scoring five goals.

On Saturday, Pep Guardiola's men extended their incredible unbeaten run to 25 games in all competitions with a 2-0 win against basement club Eintracht Braunschweig at Allianz-Arena.

Bayern Munich are quoted 12/5 to become the first side under the current format to successfully defend their Champions League trophy.
