Alan Pardew Hits Out at Snodgrass Dive and Praises Zaha After Thrilling 3-3 Goal-Fest

Published on: 10 December 2016

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has hit out at Robert Snodgrass' blatant dive to win a penalty for Hull in the 3-3 draw between the sides on Saturday afternoon, but refused to blame the referee for the decision.

The Scot scored the game's first goal from the spot after simulating contact from a Scott Dann tackle - and even took to social media after the match to apologise for his actions.

Apologies from my end it was never a penalty, but genuinely thought defender was going to slide, so tried to ride the tackleï'Œ

Quoted bySky Sportsafter the match, Pardew said:"The first-half penalty, I feel sorry for the referee. Because he is not at a great angle, he has got no linesman that side.Scotty Dann goes in for a challenge, perhaps which he shouldn't go in for, but pulls out, and the player just dives.

If snodgrass was really guilty about his dive, he would have told the ref at the time. I'm not buying this post match grovelling at all

When ref Mike Jones watches the penhe's just given Hull back tonight, his ears are gonna be a bit hot & Snodgrass is an embarrassment!!

Just seen the Snodgrass dive. Embarrassing. Should be banned retrospectively for cheating like that.

"It is as obvious as you can see. There is no point us, Premier League managers, treading on eggshells and getting into trouble. The player dived and our reaction was what it was. I would not expect my players to react any other way.We are going to react to that situation - and we get a booking for it."

Wilfried Zaha was possibly Palace's best player on the day, scoring one stunning goal and drawing a foul from Snodgrass for a penalty, and Pardew sang his praises after the game as he considers a switch of international allegiance from England to the Ivory Coast.

36 - There have been 36 goals scored in Crystal Palace's last seven Premier League games (5.1 per match). Bonanza.

"England are missing a trick here because this boy is only 23," Pardew said. "He goes to Manchester United because Sir Alex Ferguson and his team think this player has massive potential.

"Now that potential is coming through and anyone who was at the game today, from England. Wow! That report must be 10 out of 10, he was phenomenal today. He has had my advice but that will stay private between me and him. But I am an Englishman - I think it's pretty obvious."
