Alan Shearer Further Criticises Man City Flop Claudio Bravo After Huddersfield Error

Published on: 01 March 2017

Alan Shearer was once again critical of Claudio Bravo after the Manchester City goalkeeper made yet another mistake for Huddersfield's opening goal last night.

The Chilean shot-stopper, who has been negatively received all throughout the country since his move from Barcelona in the summer, was beaten after just seven minutes by Harry Bunn's tame effort.

The fairly weak and poorly directed shot seemed to favour Bravo but the ball managed to squeeze under the keeper to give the Championship side the lead after just seven minutes.

"Bravo should do better," said Shearer, while analysing the goal on the BBC, as per Mirror.

"He should not be beaten from there, it's straight at him, it went underneath him, poor goalkeeping."

Fellow BBC pundit Kevin Kilbane further twisted the knife in Bravo's reputation by pointing out that the City keeper has conceded from nine of the last 14 shots he has faced.

Despite the Chilean's best attempts to draw a negative result at the Etihad, City romped past a weakened Huddersfield lineup 5-1.

Leroy Sane, Pablo Zabaleta, Kelechi Iheanacho and a brace from Sergio Aguero secured a crushing victory and a quarter-final tie with fellow Premier League side Middlesbrough.

Pep Guardiola in recent games has utilised Willy Caballero in goal with Bravo warming the bench.

Ever since the change, City have been in far better form and it perhaps proves that having a reliable pair of hands between the sticks can inspire confidence throughout the entire side.

Bravo, one way or another, will surely be leaving England this summer.
