Romaine Swayers put Brentford  in front with a low 20-yard drive but Josh Onomah headed Villa level by half-time.

However, Lasse Vibe fired home from six yards after Villa failed to clear a corner to seal Brentford's win.

Steve Bruce's side slip to eighth after Sheffield United and Middlesbrough won, three points outside the top six.

Steve Bruce explained after the game, Adomah’s injury will have to be assessed by the team doctors.

“There's no timescales yet, all we know is that he's got a knock to his hip. We're not sure how long it's going to be,” Steve Bruce said.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian winger only needs one more goal to beat his best-ever goals haul across a single season having equalled his tally for the 2013/14 season with a penalty against Sheffield United last time out.
