Alexis Sanchez Demanding Huge £300,000-a-Week Sum in Order to Sign New Arsenal Contract

Published on: 16 December 2016

Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez wants a monstrous £300,000-a-week wage packet in order for him to signa new long-term contract with the club, according to reports fromThe Sun.

The Chilean has become Arsenal's most important player since his arrival from Barcelona in 2014, but the contract he initially signed when moving to London has now reached its final 18 months. Sanchez is in a strong position in terms of negotiations given how long is left on the contract, though progress on the new deal is very slow.

Arsenal will be hopeful they can finally strike a deal to keep the player at the club for the long-term in the coming months, though Arsenal have similar concerns over the future of Mesut Ozil.

Sanchez's demands have however been made public on The Sun's back page, and they look to be some way off the weekly pay-packet believed to have been put on offer from the Gunners themselves. It's a particular concern given the money being offered to Sanchez from Chinese Super League club Hebei China Fortune, while Manchester City are also interested.

The player himself has spoken publicly about his future in the last couple of days, tellingSky Sportsthat the ball is in the club's court:"I'm focused more on winning football matches - I'm staying concentrated on that.

"It really doesn't depend on me - if they want to show confidence in me. I'm very happy at the club. I love all the staff. I'm very grateful for everybody here.It depends on Arsenal.

"I've told my agent I don't want to speak about this too much when all the rumours are going around - it can distract a player from their main focus of concentration.

"I'm just focused on playing football, Sunday is a very important match. I've got an agent who deals with all of this, so I just want to focus on making the fans happy.I'm very relaxed. I'm trying not to let it bother me - that's not what I want."
