Alhaji Akanbi is the source of Hearts of Oak's problems - Maxwell Asabere

Former Hearts of Oak General Secretary of the National Chapters Committee, Maxwell Asabere has accused Board Member Alhaji Akanbi of causing division in the playing body.

The Ghana Premier League club have dominated the headlines for the wrong reasons following the allegations levelled against them by Kosta Papic.

The 60-year-old who left the club on Monday just after three months accused the hierarchy of interference.

The Board of the club on Wednesday held a press conference to address the recent happenings at the club following the agitations of the supporters.

The allegations were dismissed by Vincent Sowah Odotei who is also a Board Member of the club.

But according to Asabere, Alhaji Akanbi is the source of Hearts of Oak problems.

“Akanbi is a big problem," he said on Asempa FM.

"He has managed to divide the playing body into Muslim and Christian groups.

"The Muslim players are not playing for the Christian players and vice versa, and that’s all Akanbi’s doing,” he said.

Meanwhile, U-15 coach Samuel Nii Noi has been named as the interim coach.

In June 2021, the club will hold Annual General Meeting.
