Amazing Goal Stat Shows How Much Chelsea's Diego Costa Has Improved This Season

Published on: 19 December 2016

Life is good right now for Diego Costa.

Chelsea's raging bull is not only leading the Premier League with the Blues, but also the individual scoring charts, having netted 13 times this season.

The naturalised Spaniard has also shown his generous side this term, laying on five assists - second most of any striker after Alexis Sanchez.

In fact, a full half of all of Chelsea's Premier League goals before Christmas, were either scored or assisted by Costa.

When he is in such blistering form, it is easy to forget that last season wasn't so smooth for the former Atletico Madrid man, as this statistic courtesy of Squawka points out:

Diego Costa already has more Premier League goals this season (13) than he did in the whole of last season (12).

Costa's full season goal tally is actually worse than his record in just 17 outings this season. Impressive work.

The 28-year-old has also largely kept his dark side in check, and despite picking up a one-match ban during the 0-1 win over Crystal Palace, hasn't seen red since last March.

A continuation of his current form and disciplinary record could see Costa net a personal Premier Leaguebest - he scored 20 in 2013/14 - and help Chelsea tremendously in their bid tolift the league title.
