Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the pre-match press conference ahead of Napoli’s Europa League contest with Salzburg on Thursday. "We’re focused and motivated ahead of tomorrow’s game. The team knows it’s an important game to guide us on the way to advancing. This is not a decisive contest – it will all be decided in the return leg. However tomorrow’s game is of course important as regards the final outcome."
About tomorrow's opponents: "Salzburg are a team that play with pace and press high – we’ll need to be ready for their approach. We’ll have to play with intelligence because they often play direct and can hit you on the break."
On the game: "Clearly, since we’re at home, we need to try and dominate the game, however we need to do that with concentration and the right balance. It’s a tight contest but I see that my team is confident in its ability and knows what it needs to do."
As for the level of competition in the Europa League, the coach commented: "It’s very competitive tis year – there are teams with experience and history at this level, such as Sevilla, Valencia, Chelsea and Arsenal. I’d say the technical level is almost the same as the Champions League. If you look at the recent winners of the competition you’ve got Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, which is an indication of the level in the Europa League."
