Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed his ambitions for the club by insisting he wishes to bridge the gap to bring success to the Partenopei.

Ancelotti is preparing to lead his new side against former club AC Milan on Saturday evening, after returning to Serie A for the first time since leaving the Rossoneri after a hugely successful stint in 2009.

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain tactician explained why he decided to come back to Italian football and what had tempted him to take on the vacancy at the Stadio San Paolo.

“Coming to Napoli was a choice dictated by a desire to return to Italy,” Ancelotti told DAZN. “Secondly, the club’s project convinced me. The team has so much quality, has not reached the top level yet, but is so close.

“I hope with my ability that I can take them to that final step.”

Ancelotti began his Napoli career with an impressive 2-1 win over Lazio in the opening round of Serie A on Saturday evening.
