Asked by Het Nieuwsblad about the chance to bring Serbian winger Lazar Markovic (24) back to Anderlecht, Belgian club sports director, Luc Devroe, stated: "Good thing we didn't sign him, in the end. No offense, but I'm glad. Look at his latest seasons stats: he played a few games for Anderlecht, and that's basically it. We talked to him, but it would have been possible only on our terms. If Markovic changes his mind between 3pm and 10pm...well, that's okay with us. We also tried a bit for nostalgic reasons about him. The fans like him, but nostalgia is not a good basis for making decisions. That's why it's good that Chancel Mbemba did not come as well". Not included in Jurgen Klopp's plansat Liverpool, former Sporting Lisbon, Benfica and Fenerbahçe player is currently on a deal with Reds until June 2019.
