Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru says he feels 'privileged' after Asamoah Gyan regarded him as the best midfielder in Ghana after Arsenal ace Thomas Partey.

Ashimeru, who has featured 39 times and scored three goals and provided two assists for Anderlecht last season not left of the Black Stars squad for the two-legged World Cup final play-off tie against Nigeria in March.

Ghana's all-time leading goalscorer, Gyan took to Twitter to show his displeasure, blasting the Football Association not including in-form midfielder Majeed Ashimeru in the 27-man squad.

Reacting to Gyan's words, the 24-year-old told GTV Sports+, "Everyone has his or her opinion and I think has the right to think what he wants to think.

"And for a legend like Asamoah Gyan to see what a young guy like me is doing outside, it is a big privilege for me."

Gyan later has apologised after describing Ashimeru Black Stars omission for Nigeria World Cup play-off as nonsense.

Ashimeru last featured for Black Stars 2020 under former coach, CK Akonnor.
