Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has admitted that it is not easy following in the footsteps of his father, the great Abedi Ayew Pele.

Coming from a family of football stars, the Swansea City forward has always been the one most often compared to his father.

While he has been successful in his career, there are things Abedi Pele achieved in his career Andre Ayew is hoping to match.

Speaking to BBC Sport Africa, the Black Stars captain says it has not been easy following in the footsteps of the former three-time Africa footballer of the year award winner.

"You know it's not easy to follow in the footsteps of a great man and even more so when that great man is your father.

"But that is life, you have to deal with the circumstances you find yourself in and for me life is a reflection of football too.

"Sometimes you find yourself in good circumstances and other times you have to struggle and fight to get what you want and that is the situation I am in at the moment,” Andre Ayew said.

He continued, "A unique situation at a unique club that has given me its all and a club that I have grown to love and willing to give my all to make history.

"I know the price of what we are going into but I also know the value of what we can achieve and I if can do it, will be a very big achievement for myself and my family too.”

This season, Andre Ayew has continued to impress and is in the playoffs of the English Championship with Swansea City.

If they are successful, they will be in the English Premier League next season.
