Andre Ayew earns praise from West Ham United coach Slaven Bilic for goal scoring performance

West Ham United coach Slaven Bilic says he was very impressed with Andre Ayew’s goal scoring performance against Watford on Saturday in the English Premier League.

Ghana deputy captain, Ayew was introduced as a second half substitute for West Ham at Vicarage Road, replacing Robert Snodgrass.

And the former Swansea City man was in the right place at the right time to grab the Hammers’ equalising goal.

Ayew prodded home from close range, after Michail Antonio’s shot rebounding back into his path.

Bilic now believes that Ayew is getting back to his best, after a difficult start to his West Ham career since joining from Swansea City.

“We have to praise Ayew from the bench. He got a big injury in his first game against Chelsea,” the Croatian boss said. “He has come back from the African Cup and is looking back to his best.

“We have enough quality and we showed that today.”

Bilic’s words suggest that Ayew could come into West Ham’s starting line-up in the coming weeks.

The Hammers have places up for grabs in their attacking slots, and Ayew could now stake a claim for a regular spot in Bilic’s team.

West Ham’s next match comes against Chelsea at the London Stadium, and it remains to be seen whether Ayew will have done enough to break into Bilic’s line-up for that contest.
