ANDRE AYEW says he wants to repay West Ham manager Slaven Bilic for bringing him to the Hammers. The 26-year-old penned a four-year deal at the London Stadium yesterday in a move reported to be worth as much as £20.5m, which comfortably eclipses the fee West Ham paid for Andy Carroll in 2013.

Ayew came close to joining West Ham last summer, before eventually opting to move to Swansea, where he scored 12 goals in an impressive debut season in England's top tier.

But Bilic's desire to secure Ayew's signature for the second summer in a row proved to be enough to convince the Ghana international his future was in east London.

“He was a very big part of me joining the club," Ayew told the club's official website. "He is a manager who has wanted me for the past few years and today I’m lucky to play under him.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to satisfy him, because his words when I spoke to him were very important to me and made me think we have a lot of work to do to get where we want to get to.

"I’m very happy he has confidence in me and I want to give it back to him,” Ayew added.
