Andre Ayew must not be part of current Black Stars team - Christopher Nimley

Ghanaian football coach and analyst, Christopher Nimley, has argued that Andre Ayew must not be part of the current Black Stars team.

His comment comes following the senior national team's poor performance against Madagascar in the matchday five games of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Sunday at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium.

The Black Stars who needed to win to seal their qualification for the tournament were held to a goalless game.

However, Andre Ayew who captained the has come under intense criticism following his uninspiring performance.

And according to Mr Nimley, the former Al Sadd and Swansea City forward must be left out of the current team.

He added that the head coach of the side, Chris Hughton must be bold to leave out some players who are not helping the team.

"Andre Ayew is done. That is the truth," he told Accra-based Happy FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.

"Andre has been around for many years. Next year January will be his 17th year since he made his debut for the team.

"Bold decisions must be made because we need a proper transition and to do that, the likes of Andre Ayew must not be part of the team. Not him alone but other players who are not helping the team," he added.

Despite the disappointing draw, the Black Stars still sit top of Group E with 9 points.

The team will hope to seal their qualification with a win in their final round of games against the Central African Republic (CAR) in September at the Baba Yara Stadium.
