Andre Ayew no longer fits into the Black Stars – Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

Majority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu believes Andre Ayew has exceeds his time with the Black Stars.

Ayew led the four-time Africa Champions to the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast, where Ghana bowed out at group stage.

Speaking to Angel FM monitored by Footballghana.com, the top Ghanaian politician refused to blame coach Chris Hughton for the Black Stars poor showing at the AFCON, claiming some of the players are deficient including Andre Ayew.

“Constant peeling off coaches is not going to help us. Some of the players were deficient. Between the Ayew brothers, I had hope in Jordan than Andre because he’s played his part. If we are to be truthful to ourselves, he no longer fits into the team, why don’t address the issue at hand? You force the player on the coach and you don’t want to blame the player, rather, you blame the coach.

“To me, Andre Ayew has been a fantastic player just like his father was but at the moment, he is spent force” he said.

The Black Stars suffered an early AFCON setback after failing to seal qualification to the knockout stage of the continental showpiece.

Ghana has now failed to make it to the knockout stage of the continental showpiece for the second time running having last suffered early elimination in AFCON 2021 held in Cameroon.

The West Africa powerhouse drew two games at the Nations Cup, finishing in third place in Group B, behind Cape Verde and Egypt.
